Feliz Quinceañera

October 31st 2008 is a very important date for me. My mom celebrates her 15th year being sober today, she likes to joke that she wants a quinceañera. All jokes aside it’s amazing what she’s been able to accomplish. She’s been through so much and to overcome all of that is inspiring. We’ve been through a lot together and for so long I had a lot of anger towards her. But as I’ve gotten older and went through my own shit I remembered my mom had me when she was a senior in high school. I would’ve cracked if I was a single parent raising a kid in my 20’s, especially if I had the trauma on top of that. I can see how someone could fall into a spiral of drugs and alcohol, we see all the time. But she did something I don’t know if I would’ve been able to do, she quit for her kids. AND FOR THAT my mom is the strongest person I’ve ever known.

I love you mom and the fav 5 is proud of you.
